Advances in the study of dehumanization: contributions from flexible social cognition
This line of research focuses on exploring different ways to measure dehumanization, what contextual factors contribute to increasing or decreasing it, and what elements act as antecedents to dehumanization. In particular, we want to analyze dehumanization processes from a flexible social cognition perspective, examining their functionality and the specific elements that appear in certain contexts and facilitate the manifestation of dehumanization, both in subtle and overt forms.
In this vein, we are interested in exploring the neurological and physiological correlates of dehumanization, integrating theoretical models from the study of person perception, emotion processing, mental state inferences, prejudice, anthropomorphism, moral disengagement, and decision-making.
